Atherstone were in confident mood as Sheepy Road welcomed speedway for first ever time. But Boston were also confident after a win at home against Ugley. Atherstone mixed there team around after there win and put Jukka in second and Chris Corry came in for Ashley Kewley.
The tapes went up and the 1,585 crowd roared on the two sides. Heat one was a 3-3 exchange as Frode won ahead of Boston's Hancock and Berg. Heat two was the same but in heat three Ben Palmieri gave Atherstone the lead after a 4-2 win with Paul Walker picking up third spot. Boston showed some great determination as against Ugley and in heat four Vasara won buit Adders picking up seond and third kept there noses in front. heat five saw the first 5-1 but it was the visitors who were cheering as Steve Hancock and Havard Berg took it. Atherstone then hit back in the next heat with a 4-2 making it 18-18 after six heats, thanks to Frode and Jukka Tervonen picking up third. Heat seven though saw Corry go off slow at the tapes and Boston took the advantage of this with Zbigniew Sibik taking victory in a 4-2 win putting them ahead 22-20. Heat eight saw Jukka Tervonen take control and Atherstone responded with a 4-2 of there own and got it back to 24-24, it was proving to be a cracker of a meeting for the neutrals as well as supporters. Heat nine and ten saw Atherstone take 4-2's and open a gap but in Heat eleven Boston got there second 5-1 courtesy of yet again Hancock and Berg. by heat fourteen Boston Invaders had a narrow 43-41 lead and it went down to the last race. Frode got off well on the line and took the lead on the opening bend, Boston riders were second and third with Palmieri fourth trying to get around Vasara. Sadly he could not and with the race ending 3-3 Boston took the win 46-44 and are unbeaten. "It was a brilliant meeting" Said Stevenson afterwards, "It was very up and down both teams taking the lead and action throughout the night and I think these is a great advertisement for Monarch League speeddway as it had a bit of everything in it." "It was a close meeting" Remarked Frode Alstad Sunde after the race "I think both teams deserved something as it was so close and not alot between us, but we have two derby matches next against Derby and Wednesbury and hopfully we can continue our form there." Atherstone also said a goodbye to Ben Palmieri the Australian moving to Suffolk and in his place comes experienced Russian Roman Ilizi who will add bite to the side.
